Well, just when I decided to be a good little girl and avoid anything else I might possibly obsess over, I do it again.
Over the weekend I went to Best Buy to get season 2 of Yu Yu Hakusho, which for some odd reason was the only one I had managed to not have already. While I was there I decided to look for some other good animes, like Gundam Wing, Wolf's Rain, etc. My niece is staying with me this summer, and the extent of her anime exposure has been Pokemon and Naruto....I must corrupt her properly. lol.
Anyway, I had decided I was not going to get started on any new series, either animes or mangas. I am a completionist, so I can't have just a few episodes or mangas in a series. I have to have them all and unfortunately, my wallet just won't support that. Evil piece of stingy pleather that it is.
Well naturally my local BB didn't have any of what I wanted other than YYH. So I was browsing. Big mistake. My friend Eddoran pointed out the Death Note movie to me. I thought, 'Eh, why not look at it, it's live action....no chance of getting hooked from live action flics.' Well I looked at the front, the dude on the cover was completely lickable (I know, I have a thing for Orientals....so cliche.) which got me to actually read the back. I ended up taking the movie home. Put it in the DVD player. Watched it. Hooked. Damn. Curses. Foiled again.
So, it's been slow at work so I have been reading the manga online. Damn....more hooked. I'm starting to think I may need an intervention. And it's not just with anime and manga. Don't get me started on Laurell K. Hamilton or any of the other authors I stalk. (Or Elfquest, or Charmed, or Gackt, or *&^&%^%$, or &^%^$#, or &^^%$%^, Oh, you get the idea.) I wonder if they have an Otakus Annonymous? Maybe I should start one, lol.
Well, one good thing that happened, got my niece hooked too. We got to the part of the movie where Ryuk and Light are in the grocery store and Light says to Ryuk, "No more eating apples in my room," and Ryuk spazzes. My niece shot Dr. Pepper out of her nose! lol. She had me rewind that scene and play it over and over.
Oh, and apparently this whole obsessing thing runs in families, because guess who Piper's imaginary friend is......Inu Yasha....yes, that's right, Inu Yasha follows my toddler around. She has a poster of him in her room....which she has to kiss goodbye every morning before going to the sitter's. Ask her who she's playing with or talking to and she will tell you, "I playing with Yasha!" She watches that show constantly. And lately, she's getting into YYH...she loves Hiei! lol
No, I just realized, there is no hope for us, so we may as well enjoy our mental instability. Take it easy and Happy Obsessing to all my fellow deviants.
